Welcome to gitresu.me! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our service, which helps developers create exceptional resumes from their GitHub profiles. We've tried to make these Terms as clear and friendly as possible while still protecting both you and us.
By using gitresu.me, you're entering into an agreement with us. Please take a moment to read these Terms. If something doesn't make sense, feel free to reach out—we're happy to explain. Your trust and understanding are important to us.
By accessing, browsing, or using gitresu.me (the "Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy, and all applicable laws and regulations. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and gitresu.me ("we," "us," or "our").
If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not use the Service. Your continued use of the Service indicates your acceptance of these Terms and any future modifications.
If you're using gitresu.me on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and your acceptance of these Terms will be treated as acceptance by that organization.
gitresu.me is a free online service that automatically generates professional developer resumes by fetching and formatting public information from users' GitHub profiles. The Service provides:
"As Is" Nature: The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, or non-infringement. While we strive to provide an excellent service, we make no guarantees about the Service's availability, reliability, or suitability for your specific needs.
To use certain features of gitresu.me, you must authenticate using your GitHub account. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to:
You're responsible for your use of the Service and any consequences thereof. We reserve the right to investigate and take appropriate legal action against anyone who, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms.
Our Rights: The Service, including its design, layout, look and feel, graphics, source code, and all other content created by us (excluding user content), is owned by gitresu.me and is protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws. All rights not expressly granted to you in these Terms are reserved by us.
Your Rights: Your GitHub data, including your profile information, repositories, and all content you've created on GitHub, remains entirely your property. By using gitresu.me, you're not transferring any ownership rights to us. We're simply displaying your public GitHub information in a resume format.
License to Use: We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal or commercial use (such as job applications), subject to these Terms. This license does not include the right to:
Trademark: "gitresu.me" and any associated logos are our trademarks. You may not use our trademarks without our prior written permission.
gitresu.me integrates with GitHub via OAuth authentication. We want to be fully transparent about the permissions we request and our commitments:
OAuth Scope Disclosure: To access your private repositories for display on your portfolio, we request the GitHub repo scope. This scope technically grants both read and write access to your repositories. This is a limitation of GitHub's OAuth system—there is no "read-only private repos" scope available. By using our Service, you acknowledge this technical reality.
Our Binding Commitment: Despite having technical write permissions, we contractually commit to only performing read operations. We will only use HTTP GET requests to fetch repository metadata, contribution statistics, and profile information.
We Will Never:
• Push code or create commits to your repositories
• Create, modify, or delete branches
• Fork any of your repositories
• Create, close, or modify issues or pull requests
• Modify repository settings or permissions
• Add or remove collaborators
• Delete repositories or any content
• Perform any write operation whatsoever
Data We Access: We only access repository metadata (names, descriptions, languages, stars, forks), contribution graphs, and profile information. We do not read, store, or analyze your actual source code content.
Your Control: You can revoke our access at any time through GitHub Settings → Applications → Authorized OAuth Apps. This immediately invalidates our access token and stops all data fetching.
Breach of Commitment: Any violation of these commitments would constitute a material breach of these Terms and applicable data protection laws. We take this commitment seriously and have implemented technical safeguards to ensure compliance.
gitresu.me relies on and integrates with third-party services, primarily GitHub. Here's what you need to know:
GitHub Integration: Our Service uses GitHub OAuth for authentication and GitHub's API to fetch your profile data. Your use of GitHub services through gitresu.me is governed by GitHub's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We have no control over GitHub's services and are not responsible for GitHub's actions, policies, or any issues that may arise from your use of GitHub.
Third-Party Content: The information displayed on your gitresu.me resume (repository names, descriptions, code statistics, etc.) comes directly from your GitHub profile. We don't create, edit, or endorse this content. You're responsible for ensuring that your GitHub content complies with applicable laws and doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights.
External Links: Your resume may include links to your GitHub profile, personal website, or social media accounts (as pulled from your GitHub profile). We don't control and aren't responsible for the content of these external sites.
No Liability for Third Parties: We're not responsible for any harm or damages related to your use of third-party services or content. Your interactions with third-party services are solely between you and the third party.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, gitresu.me, its creators, developers, affiliates, and service providers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:
These limitations apply regardless of the legal theory on which the claim is based (whether contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise), even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Cap on Liability: In jurisdictions that don't allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us to use the Service in the twelve months prior to the event giving rise to liability (which, since gitresu.me is free, would be $0) or $100, whichever is greater.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless gitresu.me, its creators, developers, affiliates, and service providers, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents, from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights or privacy rights; or (d) any claim that your GitHub content (as displayed on your resume) caused damage to a third party. This indemnification obligation will survive termination of these Terms and your use of the Service.
Best Effort Availability: We strive to provide continuous, reliable service availability and aim for high uptime. However, we don't guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, timely, or error-free. The Service may be unavailable due to:
Right to Modify: We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice, for any reason. We may also impose limits on certain features or restrict your access to parts or all of the Service without notice or liability.
Feature Changes: We're constantly working to improve gitresu.me. Features may be added, changed, or removed over time. While we'll try to notify users of major changes, we're not obligated to maintain any particular feature indefinitely.
Your Right to Terminate: You may terminate your use of the Service at any time by simply stopping your use of the Service and revoking gitresu.me's OAuth access through your GitHub account settings.
Our Right to Terminate: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice, effective immediately. Reasons for termination may include (but are not limited to):
Effect of Termination: Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. We may, but are not obligated to, delete your stored authentication data. Publicly displayed information (like your resume page) may remain accessible for a reasonable period after termination due to caching.
Survival: Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including provisions related to intellectual property, disclaimer of warranties, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive termination.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
We don't warrant that the Service or our servers are free of viruses or other harmful components. You use the Service at your own risk, and you're responsible for implementing safeguards to protect your systems and data.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, at our sole discretion. If we make material changes to these Terms, we will:
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of such changes. If you don't agree to the modified Terms, you must stop using the Service.
We encourage you to review these Terms periodically to stay informed about our policies and any changes.
Governing Law: These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which gitresu.me operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and gitresu.me regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of law, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.
Assignment: You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights and obligations under them without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
